Setelah kira-kira 1 minggu bekerja keras menamatkan FF7, pada akhirnya terbayar juga dengan tontonan full CGI yang semua tokohnya terlihat "cantik" itu.

Bahkan ada beberapa karakter yang sama sekali tidak disangka-sangka jadi terlihat cantik di film ini. Salah satu contohnya Elena, salah seorang anggota Turks. Karakter ini hanya muncul sebanyak 3 kali (di ktp, waktu adegan menyelamatkan Rufus, dan terakhir waktu adegan hujan turun di atas Edge), tapi sudah cukup membuat gw surprised.

image image Yang membuat gw lebih puas adalah kemunculan karakter-karakter optional, yaitu Yuffie Kisaragi (my favorite!!!) dan Vincent Valentine. Gw kira kedua karakter ini tidak akan muncul, seperti pada ending movie-nya FF7. smiley

Untung saja gw bersabar untuk tidak menonton film ini sampai skrg. Betul-betul sulit dibayangkan, kalau menonton tapi sama sekali tidak mengerti isi filmnya, paling-paling hanya bisa mengagumi "cuang-cuing"-nya (baca: tampilan grafis super memukau).

OK, 'twas a great game. Now let's move on to FF VIII ! smiley]]> 2 hari yang lalu, cita-cita gw untuk menonton Final Fantasy VII Advent Children akhirnya terpenuhi juga. Setelah kira-kira 1 minggu bekerja keras menamatkan FF7, pada akhirnya terbayar juga dengan tontonan full CGI yang semua tokohnya terlihat "cantik" itu.

Untunglah setelah gw cari di internet, gw ketemu forum yang bilang kalau ini masalah yg umum dihadapi gamer FF7 PC khusus di Windows XP (kalau di 95 atau 98, ga masalah katanya).

If you have the same executable that I do, the change you need to make is at offset 3641e6, otherwise, you'll have to search for the right bytes to change. So, now, open up ff7.exe in your favorite hex editor, and find the bytes Code:
b8 86 01 00
. Again, if you have the same version of the executable that I do, you will find these bytes at 0x3641e6 from the beginning of the file. Change them to Code:
00 00 50 00
. That is sufficient to get the chocobo races working on my machine. (Note that there may be other difficulties associated with running FF7 under Windows NT/2K/XP, though many of those are solved by the Application Compatibility Toolkit from Microsoft.)"

Dulu sempat ada konsep <frame> di html. Intinya, suatu halaman web dipecah jadi beberapa bagian, dan masing-masing bagian itu diproses secara terpisah. Contoh gamblangnya bisa anda lihat di Java API.

Konsep <frame> ini tadinya diharapkan bisa menghemat bandwidth dan mengurangi flicker-effect dari suatu web. Tapi ternyata lama-lama konsep ini ditinggalkan. Gw sendiri kurang tahu apa sebabnya, tapi menurut gw sih konsep frame ini menyebabkan komunikasi antar frame jadi sulit.

Nah, Ajax yang belakangan ini populer datang untuk menggantikan frame. Tujuannya kurang lebih sama, tapi implementasinya jauh lebih baik daripada frame.

image In a nutshell, Ajax memanfaatkan teknologi JavaScript untuk melakukan request di background, menunggu response secara asynchronous (hence it's name), dan -setelah responsenya datang- menampilkan hasilnya di web tanpa me-refresh halaman.

Sebagai catatan, response yang diberikan oleh server adalah dalam format XML, walau sebenarnya bisa juga berbentuk plain-text biasa, seperti pada contoh yang nanti akan gw berikan.

Untuk melakukan implementasi Ajax, anda perlu mengetahui sedikit (sedikit, tidak perlu banyak) tentang Javascript dan XML. Di Javascript, yang penting udah ngerti cara bikin fungsi, looping, yah basic-basicnya ajalah. Kalo XML malah ga perlu belajar menurut gw, cukup mengerti konsepnya saja.

Gw sangat menganjurkan buku Ajax for Dummies, karena penjelasan mengenai Ajax-nya sangat bagus. Selain itu, buku itu juga menjelaskan apa itu Javascript dan XML, jadi bagi yang newbie di kedua teknologi ini ga perlu kuatir. smiley

Misalkan kita akan membuat "Hello World" di suatu halaman web. Pertamanya halaman web ini kosong. Terus kita tekan satu tombol, lalu muncul tulisan "Hello World", tapi bukan pake JavaScript doang, tapi melibatkan request ke server, misalnya ke PHP.

Pertama-tama, kita buat file index.html. Ini adalah halaman web yang akan kita akses.

Sebenarnya akhir2 ini banyak yang bisa dijadiin bahan postingan, tapi ya namanya lagi sibuk, jadinya ga sempet... Kenapa ga sempet? Yah, kuliah gw semuanya bangke sih, Seminar, SIA, Proteks, SPK, gila2 tugas semua, belum lagi SP... smiley Bener-bener deh nih semester! smiley

Ups, cukup keluh kesahnya...
Nah, gw kali ini menyempatkan diri untuk mosting karena yang ini bener-bener spesial.

Udah pada tau Hayao Miyazaki blom? Dia itu director terkenal asal Jepang yang spesialis bikin anime. Anime di sini bukan anime-anime series kaya Naruto, Gundam, atau sejenisnya, tapi anime yang "the movie" gitu deh, diputernya di bioskop...

Sebelum itu, mari kita ke IMDB dulu... Bagi yang belum tahu, IMDB itu situs database film paling lengkap, bagus banget buat bahan referensi kalo lagi nyari film.

Nah, coba mampir ke Top Movies, kategori Animation. Coba tebak siapa peringkat satu? Ratatouille? The Incredibles? Finding Nemo?

Nope!

Juara 1 nya:

Eek.. film apa pula ini? Nah, pertama kali gw ngeliat, gw jg kaget! Masa film-film animasi buatan Disney-Pixar bisa kalah? (Waktu itu The Incredibles dan Finding Nemo menempati urutan 2 dan 3, respectively).

Gw cari deh DVD-nya, dapetnya di mangdu, dan lgsg gw tonton. Dan ternyata? Memang film yang luar biasa saudara-saudara! Grafiknya tentu saja tidak semewah Pixar, tapi ceritanya mantap, terutama dari segi imajinasi, sangat orisinil dan tidak terbayangkan sebelumnya!

Terus, baru-baru ini gw ngecek IMDB lagi. Lagi-lagi ke kategori Animation, dan ternyata ada pendatang baru di sana, Ratatouille langsung masuk peringkat 2. Nggak kaget sih, nih film memang bagus kok. Sekali lagi Disney dan Pixar bikin hidup kita tambah bahagia. smiley

Tapi yang menarik perhatian gw adalah film yang duduk di posisi ketiga. Tadinya posisi ini ditempati Finding Nemo, tapi lihat apa jadinya sekarang:

Dan ternyata, lagi-lagi IMDB membuktikan akurasi penilaiannya. Menurut gw ini film yang sangat-sangat bagus, lagi-lagi dari sisi imajinatif-nya. Bahkan gw pribadi lebih suka film ini dibanding yang Spirited Away, karena action dan adventure-nya lebih terasa. Dan yang paling penting: musiknya !

Coba liat film-filmnya dia yang lain di IMDB, rating-nya gila-gilaan semua dah, ga ada yang jelek...

Sebenarnya akhir2 ini banyak yang bisa dijadiin bahan postingan, tapi ya namanya lagi sibuk, jadinya ga sempet... Kenapa ga sempet? Yah, kuliah gw semuanya bangke sih, Seminar, SIA, Proteks, SPK, gila2 tugas semua, belum lagi SP... smiley Bener-bener deh nih semester! smiley

Ups, cukup keluh kesahnya...
Nah, gw kali ini menyempatkan diri untuk mosting karena yang ini bener-bener spesial.

Udah pada tau Hayao Miyazaki blom? Dia itu director terkenal asal Jepang yang spesialis bikin anime. Anime di sini bukan anime-anime series kaya Naruto, Gundam, atau sejenisnya, tapi anime yang "the movie" gitu deh, diputernya di bioskop...

Sebelum itu, mari kita ke IMDB dulu... Bagi yang belum tahu, IMDB itu situs database film paling lengkap, bagus banget buat bahan referensi kalo lagi nyari film.

Nah, coba mampir ke Top Movies, kategori Animation. Coba tebak siapa peringkat satu? Ratatouille? The Incredibles? Finding Nemo?

Nope!

Juara 1 nya:

Eek.. film apa pula ini? Nah, pertama kali gw ngeliat, gw jg kaget! Masa film-film animasi buatan Disney-Pixar bisa kalah? (Waktu itu The Incredibles dan Finding Nemo menempati urutan 2 dan 3, respectively).

Gw cari deh DVD-nya, dapetnya di mangdu, dan lgsg gw tonton. Dan ternyata? Memang film yang luar biasa saudara-saudara! Grafiknya tentu saja tidak semewah Pixar, tapi ceritanya mantap, terutama dari segi imajinasi, sangat orisinil dan tidak terbayangkan sebelumnya!

Terus, baru-baru ini gw ngecek IMDB lagi. Lagi-lagi ke kategori Animation, dan ternyata ada pendatang baru di sana, Ratatouille langsung masuk peringkat 2. Nggak kaget sih, nih film memang bagus kok. Sekali lagi Disney dan Pixar bikin hidup kita tambah bahagia. smiley

Tapi yang menarik perhatian gw adalah film yang duduk di posisi ketiga. Tadinya posisi ini ditempati Finding Nemo, tapi lihat apa jadinya sekarang:

Dan ternyata, lagi-lagi IMDB membuktikan akurasi penilaiannya. Menurut gw ini film yang sangat-sangat bagus, lagi-lagi dari sisi imajinatif-nya. Bahkan gw pribadi lebih suka film ini dibanding yang Spirited Away, karena action dan adventure-nya lebih terasa. Dan yang paling penting: musiknya !

Does evil exist?

The professor of a university challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student answered bravely, "Yes, he did".

"God created everything?" The professor asked.
"Yes, sir," the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then God is evil."
The student became quiet before such an answer.

The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the "belief in God" was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?" "Of course", replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The students snickered at the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Everybody and every object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (- 460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have too little heat.

The student continued. "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does".

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor. "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. "These manifestations are nothing else but evil."

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love, that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

A Silent Love

From the very beginning, the girl's family objected strongly on her dating this guy. Saying that it has got to do with family background & that the girl will have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.

Due to family's pressure, the couple quarrel very often. Though the girl love the guy deeply, but she always ask him: "How deep is your love for me?"

As the guy is not good with his words, this often cause the girl to be very upset. With that & the family's pressure, the girl often vent her anger on him. As for him, he only endure it in silence.

After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated & decided to further his studies in overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl: "I'm not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. As for your family, I'll try my best to talk them round. Will you marry me?"

The girl agreed, & with the guy's determination, the family finally gave in & agreed to let them get married. So before he leave, they got engaged.

The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy was overseas, continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails & phone calls. Though it's hard, but both never thought of giving up.

One day, while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked down by a car that lost control. When she woke up, she saw her parents beside her bed. She realised that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum crying, she wanted to comfort her. But she realized that all that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh. She has lost her voice......

The doctors says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose her voice. Listening to her parents' comfort, but with nothing coming out from her, she broke down.

During the stay in hospital, besides silence cry,.....it's still just silence cry that companied her. Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same. Except for the ringing tone of the phone. Which pierced into her heart everytime it rang. She does not wish to let the guy know. & not wanting to be a burden to him, she wrote a letter to him saying that she does not wish to wait any longer.

With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions & millions of reply, and countless of phonecalls,.. all the girl could do, besides crying, is still crying....

The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything & be happy.

With a new environment, the girl learn sign language & started a new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend came & told her that he's back. She asked her friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn't anymore news of him.

A year has passed & her friend came with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy's wedding. The girl was shattered. When she open the letter, she saw her name in it instead.

When she was about to ask her friend what's going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her. He used sign language telling her "I've spent a year's time to learn sign language. Just to let you know that I've not forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You."

With that, he slipped the ring back into her finger. The girl finally smiled.

Seorang prajurit tua sedang menghadiri pesta reuni angkatannya. Tiba2 ia dihampiri seorang gadis muda yang cantik...
"Tampaknya anda sudah banyak makan asam garam yah?" tanya si gadis.. "No offence, tapi kapan terakhir anda berhubungan sex?"
Sang prajurit tua berpikir sejenak, lalu berkata "Sembilan belas limapuluh tiga"..

Yay... akhirnya planet baru ini diberi nama resmi : "Eris", dan satelitnya diberi nama "Dysnomia".
Sebelumnya, planet ini diberi nick name "Xena", terinspirasi dari serial TV "Xena the Warrior Princess".

Namun karena ada perdebatan tentang definisi planet, maka penamaan planet ini ditunda, dan baru sekarang dikasi nama resmi...

Jadi, sekarang tata surya kita hanya memiliki 8 planet, yaitu :
1. Mercury
2. Venus
3. Earth
4. Mars
5. Jupiter
6. Saturn
7. Uranus
8. Neptune

sementara 4 yang lain dikategorikan sebagai dwarf-planet, yaitu:
1. Ceres
tadinya merupakan asteroid terbesar
2. Pluto
ha..ha.. kasian deh lo...

tadinya dianggap satelit Pluto, walau sebenarnya hubungan kedua benda ini bukan "planet-satelit", tetapi "planet-ganda".

Woii... ada yang maniak game pesawat di sini ?? smiley smiley

Cobain deh game yang satu ini...
Yang udah pernah main Flight Simulator 2002 bakal lebih familiar dengan sistemnya, hampir semuanya sama, cuma ada beberapa perubahan yang lumayan bagus, khususnya database airportnya !!!

Gw udah berhasil ngebawa Learjet dan Boeing 737-400...
Learjet butuh belasan kali percobaan terbang, baru gw bisa mendarat dengan sukses. Boeing lebih parah, pertama-tama nyoba mendarat, pesawatnya crash melulu... !!!
Tapi anehnya pendaratan sukses gw yang pertama justru dilakukan pas lagi malam...

Ketemu juga situs yang nyediain add-on pesawat, tapi gw kurang recommend, soalnya manual-nya ga bagus... Bikin pusing bacanya !!
